Northwest Family YMCA plans



The 98,000 square-foot Northwest Family Y is designed to meet LEED energy efficiency standards. Its elegant design of brick, glass and metal will be a source of community pride. (See renderings ) It will include:
 
An Aquatic Center, with a six-lane lap pool, a therapy pool, a whirlpool, a sauna, a steam room and a family fun pool featuring a zero-depth entry shallow area, spray pipes and fountains.
 
A Health and Wellness Center, with a cardiovascular training center, a strength conditioning center, four group exercise rooms, cancer survivors’ center, and a three-lane,1/12-mile track.
 
A Gymnasium, with three basketball courts plus six smaller sports courts.
 
An Arts Center, with music rehearsal rooms, a ceramics studio and gallery.
 
A Teen Center, with areas for homework and games. During school days, it will become a gathering place for senior citizens.
 
Family Prime Time Center, with rooms, activities and adult supervision dedicated to infants, toddlers and elementary school students, so they can have fun while their parents exercise.
 
A Teaching Kitchen, where teens and adults can learn to make healthy meals and snacks.
 
Locker Rooms for men and women plus five small locker rooms for families or people with special needs.
